He can scan the whole layout from where he sits…the house, the chicken coop ( no doubt that is what he’s most interested in), the greenhouses. He doesn’t fly away when we are out working. He remains still, turning his head ever so slightly, to keep us in view. I’m glad he’s here. I’m o.k. with more snow. The shoveling?…keeps us fit. picture-3983picture-3988

  1. I noticed our owl when I was out shoveling yesterday, too… and we haven’t got a chicken coop. Maybe owls like to compare notes on how their crazy humans think they can win against Mother Nature, and spend hours moving snow around, only to have it blow back, or more fall. šŸ™‚ I bet we are the joke of the owl community. šŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Marion. The woodstove is doing its job, plenty of food in the freezer and pantry and the seed catalogs lay open on the table for scanning and planning. All is well here in the snowy north!

  2. The snow sure does photograph beautifully. I do remember my quickening heartbeat whenever shovelling it. Working up a sweat while breathing in the fresh, crisp air always did feel like a healthy workout.
